Governors work in partnership with the Headteacher and staff to promote high standards of educational achievement and to drive the strategic direction of the school. The Governing Body is made up of parent, staff, community and local authority representatives.
The Governing Body meets regularly to review the activities of the school and to consult and decide on its future direction. The Governing Body's responsibilities include:
> Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
> Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;
> Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
(Governors' Handbook January 2015)
In addition to the full Governing Body meetings the Governing Body delegates certain responsibilities and more detailed discussion to its committees: Resources and Teaching & Learning (T&L).

Mrs PJ Wright, Clerk to the Governing Body 19/01/2015 -
In order to ensure a democratic representation, the governing body at Willowbank has members elected by the school's parents & carers, a member from the school's staff, others appointed by the Local Authority and Co-operative Trust, in addition, members from the community appointed by the governors themselves.
Governors are all volunteers and come to the governing body with very different skills and experiences, but the one thing we all have in common is our commitment to work with the school and support our school community: children, teaching and support staff, parents and carers. The governing body is accountable for the school’s performance and in order to do this we attend a variety of training courses online, face to face and at governing body meetings so that we can become more effective as governors. We talk to pupils, staff and parents about different aspects of the school and report back to the governing body as part of our monitoring role and every decision we make is based on the best interests of the pupils in our care.
If you wish to contact any governor please contact Mrs PJ Wright, Clerk to the Governing Body via the school office. Any correspondence to the Chair of Governors should be handed in to the school office or via e-mail at email@example.com
