Heatree - September 2018
We have arrived safely at Heatree and have explored the site and had a picnic lunch. This afternoon we took part in bushcraft - making fires, building shelters and toasting marshmallows.
This evening we had a lovely dinner of lasagne (which everyone ate in some form or another) and apple crumble and / or custard. This was followed by the Heatree Hunt - a great activity where we had to locate the grid references of photographs.
After a great night's sleep, everyone enjoyed breakfast. This morning we have taken part in low adventure - practising our ninja skills and wading through the muddy bog.
During the afternoon we took part in kayaking or archery. After dinner (chicken pie and syrup sponge which was enjoyed by everyone), we went to the Roundhouse for our evening session. We had a lovely time working out how people would have built and lived in the roundhouse. The campfire was a real focal point for story-telling, riddle telling and songs.
After another great night's sleep, we are getting ready to explore Dartmoor today.
The children are all now really in the Heatree routine - their rooms are tidy, they are enjoying helping themselves to food and organising the washing up and sweeping. The table tennis table and table football are being enjoyed by everyone.
4pm - We have had a great adventuring day, exploring Dartmoor and learning to scramble and weasel through rocks. Everyone has climbed up rocks and pushed their boundaries. We are becoming very resilient!
The sun is shining this morning and everyone has had another good night's sleep. This morning we have taken part in kayaking or archery, which was followed by the climbing tower this afternoon.
