The Butterfly Lion - Michael Morpurgo

Each day, we will read a chapter from a book, along with a question for you to answer.

We are starting with The Butterfly Lion - we hope you enjoy the story.

The blurb    -  Bertie rescues an orphaned white lion cub from the African veld.  They are inseperable until Bertie is sent to boarding school far away in England and the lion is sold to a circus.  Bertie swears that one  day they will see one another again, but the butterfly lion ensures that their friendship will never be forgotten.

The Butterfly Lion - Chapter 1

Question for today...

How old do you think the boy was when he first met the butterfly lion? How do you know?
At the end of the chapter, it says ‘A great stone lion bestrode the gateway’ – listen to the end of the recording again. What do you think the word ‘bestrode’ means? Look it up in a dictionary and see if you were right.

Fashion show

We hope you are enjoying the Easter break. As you know, we were unable to invite parents into school to watch the Unit 2 fashion show. The children were very disappointed so we recorded the event and a video has now been uploaded to class page (class pages can be found using the the children tab at the top of the web page). The children had lots of fun taking part in the fashion show and their designs were amazing.  We are very proud of their efforts.

A massive well done from the Unit 2 team.
