  • Oracy - a spotlight on Willowbank

Wed 16 Mar 2022 Miss Gibbs

Over the past year, teachers at Willowbank have been developing the Oracy skills (speaking) of the children through Voice21. As part of the project, the Oracy drive team implemented a poetry week focusing solely on the Oracy Framework. The Oracy Framework promotes the physical, linguistic, cognitive and social and emotional strands of speaking. Voice 21 were blown away with our project and have used Willowbank as 'spotlight school' to show other schools on the Oracy journey how to successfully implement, promote and value the power of talk.

  • Owl pellets - Forest School

    Fri 11 Mar 2022

This week in Forest school Children have been dissecting owl pellets. Following our topic all about birds we found out that owls cannot digest the bones of their prey and so regurgitate them in the form of a pellet. We carefully pulled the pellets apart and found lots of bones. The children always impress Miss Mogford with their curiosity, even if it's a bit yucky!

A massive thanks to the people at Yarak bird of prey for donating the owl pellets.
